58128 | Attempted this track solo just before dusk in 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with Cooper AT3 fitted. This was not what I was expecting. Went West to East. Only a few km's long and starts off relatively sedate with some sandy and deeply rutted sections. A couple of difficulty bypasses along the way. Correct line essential on some sections. Had the TH on two wheels opposite sides rocking it to shift weight over. A few belly scrapes. Got very boggy towards end after recent rains, had to give it some welly to get through. Thick clay type soil. Just could not get enough traction to get good line so given darkness falling and no recovery vehicle, trax or winch onboard I took the decision to turn back. The return trip in the dark was a great challenge and took some time. This is far harder than my research suggested (Google car got up it - see street view), different story after it rains I'm thinking. The more seasoned 4x4'ers would relish this challenge in winter time. I will attempt again with a snatch strap and tow vehicle in coming days. | Jeep Cherokee | Jun 7, 2015 |
