Relatively easy track for beginners (which we are). There are some steep sections with parts of track covered with overgrown vegetation. Some parts are slippery after rain, but wasn't a big problem for us with standard clearance and highway tyres.
As a bonus, there are two shallow river crossings. When we traveled after a week without rains, crossings were knee-deep, but looks like the situation changes dramatically after rains, so choose your timing carefully.
The higher you go into the mountains, the more dense the rainforest becomes. If you are particularly worried about your paint, there are few sections where it gets scratchy. Apart from that, great fun for beginners!
Enjoy! We did.
