Lerderderg - XL Track
About the Track
Track Description

Track starts at O'Briens Road in Lerderderg Park and finishes at Chettle Road in Wombat State Forest. Track does continue on beyond Chettle Road but we were unable to complete it in the weather. This track was lots of fun in the wet and would probably be pretty good in the dry too. Start is fairly easy with lots of ups and downs. Terrain was not too slippery in the wet. Occasional puddles and drains.

First major obstacle we came to was a medium sized puddle about 1.5km in with a slightly challenging climb out the other side. The track out had deep ruts but there is a chicken track slightly off to the side too. Following this was a long slippery uphill, but we managed to handle this fine even in the rain.

Slightly further along, at GPS -37.48462, 144.37844, there is a nice hill off to the left with some steep tracks to test your cars muscle. The track to the right has deeps ruts and was too much for my car. The track to the left is steeper, probably 35 degrees or more, but looked slippery and has many trees in close so decided not to give it a go today. I definitely plan to give it a shot some time when it's dry!

Following this, the track just has a few more up hills and down hills with the occasional puddle, but nothing that poses any sort of a challenge. There is a nice little interesting side track at GPS -37.47031, 144.38484 which is worth while checking out. But give that one a miss if you like your paint job as it is!

Please note, this track is closed during the winter months!

51554 Nice drive, easy track, creek crossing can be a little muddy at the bottom and might need momentum for some Toyota Landcruiser Mar 9, 2015
47222 A good drive in the dry. The crossing of diggers creek had a little water, a sharp turn into the creek and steep exit that would be a challenge when wet. LandRover Freelander 2 Mar 28, 2014

40198 Went in easy was all down hill, stopped about 3/4 of the way down and noticed it was clay, our cars weren't equipped with the right recovery gear, walked down was really wet at the bottom, and found a big puddle with a hard rutted climb back up, so turned around and smashed 2nd gear all the way up! Would only recommend to the right equipped 4wd! Holden Rodeo May 19, 2013
