Moreton Island via Combie Trader
About the Track
Track Description

Catch the Combie Trader from Scarborough boat harbour at Redcliffe. Barge lands at Bulwer Wrecks on Moreton Island. Some easy to medium sand driving (depending on tides ) will take you through some great scenery with views from the lighthouse at north point you have to see to appreciate. Also some WW2 bunkers for the history buffs to explore. Permits for vehicles and camping available from National Parks and Wildlife Service.

BMURRAY2250 Update:

Combie Trader is now closed and need to use the MiCat from the Port of Brisbane.

52098 Have driven every track/beach on island. You will be OK in stock vehicles as long as you let pressure down. Beach is easy to navigate as is rest of island. Can get soft on some inland tracks particularly Tangalooma bypass round the back and desert track. Looking for a bit of fun go to the bunkers and there is a short sandy climb up to a parking area that's good fun when soft. Nissan Patrol Jun 11, 2014
37916 All the inland tracks on Moreton are very soft and quite corrugated in places, let those tire pressures right down and you won't have any dramas Nissan Navara Sep 16, 2013
39699 Track's are ok at the moment. Middle road a bit rutted but not too bad could take a trailer through with high clearance vehicle. Eastern beach very eroded. Coffee rock exposed around 3km north of middle road but can drive over easily. Apparently rock exposed south of middle road making beach impassible to Korringal. North point road rutted with some small water crossings. Western beach has lots of washouts. Some are rather deep so drive slowly with care. Cowan Cowan bypass soft as usual rut's were fairly deep. 513 The combie Trader is no more but access it via the MiCat. The Island is a fun to drive around and fishing, sand skiing, eating/drinking and relaxing are some of the best past times. It is like a mini Fraser without all the idiots Toyota Prado Oct 4, 2007
