19 May 2012. Wonnangatta Track begins north of the Wonnangatta Valley at Van Dammes Helipad – the junction of Van Dammes Tk, East Riley Rd and Wonnangatta Tk (w.tk). Parks Victoria recommends this as the easiest route into the W.Valley. From its junction with Zeka Spur Tk the w.tk is in good condition going south-east to the Homestead Ruins. From the Homestead to its junction with the Humffray River Tk the w.tk becomes much rougher and slower. The w.tk has been routed at a higher level to avoid the many previous bog holes in the Valley. From the Humffray River Tk there are six crossings of the Wonnangatta River before the w.tk ends at the bottom of the Herne Spur Tk.

On this journey the river level was low. Convoy leaders keep a good eye on the weather before committing vehicles into this beautiful Valley; people have been confined here for a number of unplanned days.
