About the Track
Track Description
Carrai National Park is some 90 kilometres west of Kempsey on the remote, unpaved Carrai and Coachwood roads via Kookaburra (4WD essential). This park provides 4WD access to the scenic Mary\'s View lookout on the eastern side of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.

17302 Marys View is spectacular, BUT, it's a long drive in! Carrai Rd is quite narrow and bumpy. Allow at least an hour each way between Kookaburra and Mary's view. Coachwood road is more challenging especially through the rainforest section (but it's still easy/medium). Entering this region via Willawarrin is surprisingly difficult due a terrible lack of useful signposts and decent maps of the area. I had 100k topo plus several other maps but wouldn't have made it in this way without significant guesswork. Carrai Rd from this side was also a little overgrown and deteriorated. Apart from Mary's view, I wasn't really impressed with this region. On the other hand, a milder SUV driver would probably have a ball. Toyota Prado Dec 29, 2011
