About the Track
Track Description

The track follows the Condamine River for 14 kms and does about 12 or 13 river crossings. Most are easy depending on rain but a few can be fairly deep.

We went through in a Nissan Pathfinder Petrol and the second crossing went over the bonnet but there had been a lot of rain in the area at the time.

This track is worth a visit for a family picnic or day out.

35989 We did this track over xmas, we did it just before it rained for a day so the crossings were no more than wheel deep however after the rain it would have easily been bonnet high Toyota Hilux

39363 Went out with my 3 year old who thought it was great to go splashing through the water. If you're after a nice drive through the country side and a bit of fun for the kids, this is good. 42240 We camped at lake Moogerah and were planning on doing this drive but was told by the people at Warick Visitor Information Centre (07)46613122, that the track was inaccessible due to storm damage recently. Better luck next time I suppose. Jeep Wrangler Apr 11, 2014
41612 Being so dry currently this track is like driving through large puddles. The water was no more than 5 inch deep. Head Rd is still closed so we had to go the long way round via White Swamp. (this is a gravel road and rather slippery in sections) Toyota Prado Jan 13, 2014
3989 Head Rd still closed. Condamine River Rd signposted as being flood damaged and open to local traffic only. There was no evidence of any flood damage - road is in excellent condition and even after heavy rain 24hrs ago the crossings where barely deep enough to wet the wheels. Great drive. 42568 The Condamine track is open, Head Rd. and The Falls track are closed due to flood damage from 2011. Went in from Kilarney end down Brosnans rd. The crossings are a little rough and rocky for the standard Territory turbo and theres a few ruts on some approaches but made it through without getting stuck and no damage to speak of. Great scenery, we saw 3 wallabys (or may have been small roos, bouncy things anyway) a red belly black snake, and a blue tounge skink, all without leaving the car, and stopped at one of the wider crossings for a dip to cool off in the river. 18994 This track is now open, there were no road closed signs. Awesome track for scenery, the country side is amazing out there. The river crossings are half way up your wheels making it easy for any soft roader. Highly recommend this for a day trip for those that want an easy track that is very scenic. 16813 Track was "Closed" at both ends, but a local I passed said it was fine and he was right. Easy and enjoyable drive. Water only just above the side steps. Popular spot, as we were sharing it with a horse-riding club, mountain bikers and walkers...complete with a Lions Club BBQ at the start. 13711 Went with a group on 21/5/11. Track was in excellent condition. Very easy. River crossings fun for the kids but not challenging. Muddy sections more to the Northern entrance were fun. Very scenic. Good day out but left wishing there was more given the 1.5 hour tarmac taxi to get there from the Gold Coast. For a tip we did White Swamp Road down almost to Tenterfield then took Summerland Way back through Woodenbong and up to Beaudesert. All in all was about a 10 hour day with lunch and some 250k's round trip. More 4WDing would have been nice though... Mitsubishi Pajero May 21, 2011

16693 Was very easy great day out. Even for the D22 4000kms on her. There was even a X Trail & a Subaru Forester doing the river crossings. 17576 Very easy track, even considering the floods and heavy rains. Water was only knee deep (4th or 5th crossing was deepest), but some soft roaders may have issues. 513 The track is rough and the creek crossings are challenging as there have large rocks through them now after the heavy rains. This is not a soft road track any more as a Rav4 cracked its fuel tank open in the second creek crossing. It has presently many deep river crossings and vehicles without snorkels should use protection. Some of the road road is blocked but there are some new tracks around the blockage. 11627 Very pleasant scenery - creek crossings came to just below the step. Stopped for a picnic just after the creek crossing called Second Crossing (this was actually about our 12th crossing).
