I start the trek from the intersection of Chirnside rd and Landsborough Hwy in Winton you can't miss it as the Railway track is right nearby. Head south onto Winton Jundah Rd and take the second track on the left into Bladesburg National Park. There is a track whick will lead you to Gragg's Grave and back out and around till you get back onto Winton Jundah Rd and head west again. Take a look at your map and wind across to Diamantina Rd continue past the many creeks and rivers in the area. You then proceed into Diamantina National park and turn onto Sprinvale rd at Diamantina Lakes. Take the second track on your left to lead to Lake Constance. I have provided some details you may find useful below.
Diamantina National Park can be reached by heading south from Winton or Boulia, north from Windorah or east from Bedourie. Obtain a Sunmap or RACQ map for details. Four-wheel-drive is recommended and wheel ruts can be deep, so a vehicle with high clearance will offer the best ride. Remember to take extra fuel as the closest supplies are at Boulia (183km), Winton (306km) or Windorah (350km). Remember to carry extra fuel for driving within the park.
Many outback roads are unsealed and impassable when wet. Even small amounts of rain can make roads impassable so always be prepared and have at least a week’s worth of extra supplies in case of stranding. Check with QPWS Longreach, the RACQ or local council offices for current road conditions before your trip.
