About the Track
Track Description
This drive is probably the most spectacular track in the high country. It has been labelled as probably the longest dead end track in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a must for all four wheel drive travellers to the area however give the track the respect it deserves. It is very remote and over 1600 metres above sea level. Be aware that snow may fall without warning at any time during the year. It has a few really steep rocky sections particulary just prior to the highest peak and the track drops off steep on both sides. It has been labelled difficult only because of this section. It could be driven in any soft roader up to this point without too much difficulty. If you wish to go upward and onward down to the river make sure you have clearance and tyres and some level of experience in this kind of driving.

17302 Entire track has been graded (to the river). The famous top section is so smooth I'd be willing to bet a car could drive it. Without all those rocks so much of the thrill has been lost. :( I also drove to the river with a couple other Prado's. With recent wet weather the track was a little slippery but we didn't have any issues. Definitely don't go down unless you have winches. Toyota Prado Apr 16, 2014
39493 Don't go driving down the other side to the Wonwungurra River unprepared. After heavy rain had to winch six times to get out since its dead end. 33" mud tyres with 20 psi and couldn't go anywhere. 33970 Did Blue Rag Track up to the Trig point at the top with the Subaru 4WD Club Victoria over the Melbourne Cup weekend. We were the only group at the top!! The track over the back side has been closed. Great scenery. Track was graded before Winter, so had some washed out parts, but track will become worse (or better, depending on your take) over Summer. No probs in my Forester XT with 2" lift. No lockers or massive tyres. It's a must drive for any 4wd enthusiast, no matter what 4wd you drive!! Subaru Forester Nov 5, 2013

39767 The most beautiful views on this track, thoroughly enjoyed! Went on the Anzac Day long weekend and it had been graded so was pretty smooth. Was going to camp at the end of the track, however once we got to the top the track going back down to the Camping Area was closed off so will have to head back another time!
